Sushi North rolls onto the streets of Yellowknife

September 2nd, 2009

If you have not noticed yet – Sushi North has rolled out its sushi express window onto the streets of Yellowknife. You can now order your favourite set of Japanese sushi rolls without having to enter the restaurant. Just stroll on down to 50th avenue between 49th and 50th streets in downtown Yellowknife.

NWT Mining Heritage Museum in Yellowknife

August 26th, 2009

The NWT Mining Heritage Society has an outdoor mining museum setup east of downtown Yellowknife along the Ingraham Trail. It only takes a few minutes to drive out to and it has some interesting mining artifacts to explore. The museum has been expanding and the society hopes to add more artifacts and build a tourist destination out of the Giant Mine A-shaft and a tourist centre. Here are just some of the mining artifacts I found at the mining museum.

That Creepy House in Yellowknife

July 23rd, 2009

Is it creepy or mysterious? If you are looking to add a little strange and creepy into your day then look no further than the Yellowknife house shown below. There is something creepy about this house (located next to the Boston Pizza) on 48th Street in Yellowknife. If you have walked, rode or even drove slow down that street then you know the house I am talking about. It has those strange symbols above the door and a distinctly Blair Witch Project (see the movie) sort of feel to it. It makes you wonder if someone or something is living there… and if so, what the heck are they doing there anyway. Conversely, this could be the home of a millionaire who hordes his/her money and lives obsessively frugal. OR, the resident (if there is one) gets pleasure from being the creepy house in Yellowknife. Maybe there is a secret portal to a large cache of gold (and the resident wants to remain incognito). Heck, anything is possible. If you get the chance drive by and see it for yourself. PLEASE feel free to LEAVE A COMMENT with your thoughts about this creepy and mysterious house in Yellowknife.

Folk on the Rocks 2009

July 20th, 2009

Sun, Sand, Music, Beer, Families, Ice Cream, Dancing, Swimming were all part of a hot and sunny weekend in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. This July 17 to 19 weekend the annual Folk on the Rocks Festival came and went. There were some great musical acts and good times all around. I wish it would not end because I know a certain someone (me) that could use a few more days of fun in the sun. Have a look at the photos below and feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the post.
